What is Dysport and how does it compare to Botox? Check out our guide as we compare the two, plus take a look at the benefits, how they work and more.

Did you know that wrinkles start forming as early as the age of 25? For many, the idea of getting older and having wrinkled skin can be nightmarish. Even though getting older is inevitable, that doesn’t mean that you have to look old.

Both Dysport and Botox can help with making your complexion appear younger and smoother than ever before. But what is Dysport exactly, and how does it compare to Botox? How do both of these treatments work, and how can you know if either one of them is right for you?

Keep reading and learn more about the benefits of Dysport and Botox below.

What Is Dysport Exactly?

You may have already heard of Botox, but you may not know much about Dysport. Dysport is not quite as popular as Botox, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good option for reducing the appearance of wrinkles. In fact, both of these injections have the same active ingredient, and they both are popular anti-aging treatments.

But how does Dysport work exactly, and how long does Dysport take to work? The first thing you should know is that Dysport uses Botulinum Type A as its active ingredient. Botulinum Type A in large doses is actually quite dangerous and can bring about paralysis of the body.

On a much smaller scale, however, it can be very useful when it comes to anti-aging treatments. This is how both Botox and Dysport work. The Botulinum Type A used for Dysport injections comes in such small amounts that it is quite safe.

Once your Dysport provider injects this substance into your face, the Botulinum Type A will disable the nerves surrounding the injection site. This is not as bad as it sounds. After the injection, the muscles in the treated area will become limited in the amount they can move.

This will cause the skin on top of the muscle to smooth out. As a result, the wrinkles in that area will no longer be so visible. In some cases, the wrinkles may disappear entirely.

What You Need to Know

In contrast to Botox, Dysport is designed to treat specific types of wrinkles on the face. In particular, Dysport is very good at treating glabellar lines, also known as frown lines. Frown lines are small verticle lines that appear near the eyebrows.

These lines tend to be quite deep, and they can be hard to get rid of. But by injecting Dysport into the area, you will find that these deep wrinkles will go away as if they were never there in the first place. Dysport is also very good for minimizing laugh lines.

Laugh lines are wrinkles that occur on each side of your mouth, usually due to smiling too much. These wrinkles also tend to be very deep and hard to get rid of with other methods. Dysport can relax the muscles surrounding these lines, which will, as a result, smooth out the laugh lines and make your complexion look much younger.

What Is Botox Exactly?

As mentioned before, Botox and Dysport are both quite similar, but there are a few important differences. In particular, Botox tends to be a bit more expensive than Dysport. However, this is not necessarily the case everywhere.

Depending on your location, Botox and Dysport may be about the same price. Botox is also approved by the FDA to treat various parts of the face, while Dysport is only FDA-approved to treat glabellar lines. Of course, this is not very helpful if you do not have glabellar lines but instead have lines on the rest of your face that you want to get rid of.

On the other hand, Botox can treat not only glabellar lines but also crow’s feet, forehead lines, and other lines around the face. However, Botox does not spread as much as Dysport once it’s injected. This may be a good thing or a bad thing for some people.

For example, if you have very defined wrinkles in specific places, Botox will be perfect because it won’t affect any of the surrounding areas of your face. On the other hand, if your face is covered in wrinkles, especially your forehead, Dysport may be more effective because it will be able to spread farther and produce an effect across a larger area.

How to Make the Right Choice

Since Botox and Dysport are both so similar, you might be wondering how you should make a choice. To make a decision, you will mainly want to consider what kind of wrinkles you have. If the wrinkles you’re concerned about are mainly on your forehead, Dysport may be the ideal choice.

This is especially true if you have glabellar lines since Dysport is designed to treat those lines in particular. Once you get treated with Dysport, the results will last for several months until the wrinkles come back, and by that time, you will have to get another injection if you want to maintain your new look.

Botox is better if you are concerned about wrinkles on other parts of your face other than your forehead. Many people are concerned about crow’s feet (wrinkles that occur around the corners of the eyes) because these wrinkles can make a person look much older. Botox can treat these wrinkles without any problem, along with forehead wrinkles.

All about Dysport and Botox

What is Dysport, you might ask, and how does it compare to Botox? Both of these treatments are quite similar and involve paralyzing the muscles in your face to smooth out the superficial skin. By choosing one of these treatments, you can look younger in no time.
